Testable Hypothesis

Submitted by Gary (not verified) on Fri, 2006-10-13 19:46.

This video presents a testable hypothesis regarding the real cause of the 9-11 twin tower's collapse. Added to the now mostly circumstantial evidence (unfortunately, as important evidence from the collapsed buildings was apparently destroyed) for or against the idea of thermite implosions versus the "standard theory" of airplane-fuel heat collapse, I propose a simple scale-model experiment, called "Project Democracy". I'm no engineer, but we do know the following information: type of construction materials used for towers, design of these buildings, how much fuel was on each plane at time of impact, temperature of fuel burn, elapsed time of fuel burn to collapse. Seems to me a scale model could be built and the appropriate fire and heat conditions could be generated within it. If after some elapsed time well beyond those known, the scale model does not collapse per the "standard theory", then other explanations for their collapse will be necessary. I hope that if anyone takes up this challenge, they will film it, properly document the results, and widely dissiminate them. Thanks in advance.

I am completely dumbfounded

I am completely dumbfounded at how little I really knew about everything going on. I suspected the government had something to do with the 9-11 incedents, and this video helped confirm. I'm going to e-mail this video link to everyone in my address book, and post to every Yahoo group I'm on.

Thanks for helping to open the world's eyes.

Freedom From Oil

Submitted by EV Rider (not verified) on Sat, 2006-10-14 18:19.

Our collective addiction to oil is at the root of at least six fundamental issues that are adversely affecting our nation and indeed, the entire planet: corporate-driven globalization, global warming, poverty, war, terrorism, and the undue influence of money on the political process.

In the late 1800s, the fledgling petroleum industry aggressively competed with the established biomass-based energy industry in an effort to gain control of world energy production and distribution. Fossil fuel producers succeeded in their campaign to dominate energy production by making fuels and chemical feedstocks at lower prices than could be produced from biomass conversion.
With the end of fossil fuels in sight, the race to save the planet is on! A commitment to clean energy is needed now.

Find out why we believe Industrial Hemp is the World's #1 Sustainable Fuel and Energy Source that can help us to get out from under the negative influence of the peak oil crisis', (and the evil men and seducers who lie and deceive for their own selfish gains). ->

Wow, 10 minutes on peak oil and 40 on wild conspiracy theories

Submitted by Eric (not verified) on Sun, 2006-10-15 19:29.

Why so much time on paranoid 9/11 conspiracy theories? Our looming energy problem is very real, going down these paths doesn't seem to help much. The problems with 9/11 conspiracy theories are the same as with most conspiracy theories:
a) Occam's razor. The simplest explanation that fits the facts is almost always the right one.
b) Non-sequitor. The ability to poke holes in a theory may be legitimate holes in that theory, but it doesn't actually do anything to bolster an alternative theory. (Best example: problems with the theory of evolution do not actually do anything to prove intelligent design)
c) Suspension of disbelief. A conspiracy on the scale alleged here requires incredible precision, and no leaks or whistle blowers. Our government is hardly that competent when it comes to above-board things; it requires quite a leap of faith to think that they could pull something like this off.)

I think that this actually does a disservice to the peak oil message by so closely aligning it with fringe 9/11 theories.

First Warnings
15/10/06 www.mountainsentinel.com In October of 2001, a little over a month after 9/11, I wrote an article titled The Background is Oil. The hypothesis laid out in this article was that the 2000 US presidential election resulted in a coup of neocons and oil interests who had taken control of the US in order to prepare for the coming peak and decline of world oil production. Furthermore, this coup engineered the 9/11 terrorist attacks to further their own interests.

Before 9/11, the coup was hampered by lack of support from both the public and Congress. The tragedies of September 11th washed all resistance away in a flood of rabid patriotism. As a result, the coup was able to hijack the US political process. Over the coming years, starting with the patriot act, the coup has been able to strip us of our constitutional rights, in preparation for the civil unrest which will come from the peak and decline of oil production and the resulting economic collapse.

The day after 9/11, the junta announced that the US would undertake a "War against Terror;" that is, a war without end, directed against whomever the junta should label as an enemy state. The war was actually a cover for the consolidation of military empire and a worldwide grab for control of energy production. Never mind that terrorism can never be ended through warfare, but only exacerbated (see Restating the Obvious).

After writing the article The Background is Oil, I shopped it around very eagerly. This message needed be heard by as many as possible. There were many people, both within the US and around the world, who did not believe the official story of 9/11 and the "War on Terror," but without this knowledge of the peak oil motive, it was very difficult to understand why the junta was proceeding with such a Machiavellian scheme, nor why the power brokers behind the junta would condone this madness.

For the next month, I sent this essay out to every alternative news service and periodical I could think of. None of them would touch it. I had just about given up on having the article published. As a final option, I would put the article out on the web myself, through email groups and my own website. As a last chance, I tried sending the article to From the Wilderness, a newsletter that I knew little about but which seemed to be putting out information about 9/11 that no one else would touch.

Whatever my subsequent thoughts and feelings about From the Wilderness, I owe Mike Ruppert a debt of thanks for publishing this article, and all of the material that followed it. Within the next few months, The Background is Oil traveled all over the web and was translated into many different languages.

In January of 2002, I followed up on this article with another entitled What Next for the Oil Coup? In this article, I proposed that if the US had suffered an oil coup that was using 9/11 to make a global energy grab, then we should be able to make some predictions based on this hypothesis. Looking at the top oil producing countries, I stated that the most likely targets of an oil coup would be Iraq, Iran, and Venezuela. Saudi Arabia would also be important, but its ties to the US could be shored up by the occupation of Iraq and the military bases established in the surrounding area. I also threw in a few other countries devoid of energy resources, but which the US considered to be enemy states — countries such as North Korea and Cuba. Within a week of the publication of this article in From the Wilderness, Bush gave his infamous "axis of evil" address. And in the years since, the countries listed in this article have been the almost exclusive focus of the "War on Terror."

wow.

Lacks vision of alt energy solutions to oil dependence

Submitted by Sterling D. Allan (not verified) on Fri, 2006-10-20 22:51.

The documentary does a good job of showing the compelling connections between the pending scarcities produced by peak oil, and the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks as a reason to establish a Western, controlling presence in the Middle East. However, it lacks the vision that is provided by an awareness of the many alternatives to oil that are available now, ripe for the picking. It doesn't even raise the topic of alternatives to oil, to say that they will not be adequate. Silence.

I find that lack of vision almost as stunning as the conspiracy they are pointing to in connection peak oil and 911 as an inside job.

Great video. Very thought provoking. I think it is important to tie the linkages from oil to the war on terror. Our policy is to use war (with its heavy toll on energy resources ) as a last ditch effort to secure energy resources. The logic of it amazes me and I feel that this is what the 35% of the american people who support our process are afraid to face.

thanx jeremy for the video link. this is great intel :-)

I am doing research and I am looking for a reliable source to get the weekly average price of gas(at U.S. gas stations) as well as data on the weekly consumption amounts by U.S. drivers. Last July, I was able to view such data on the American Petroleum Institute website, but I can no longer find such info on that sight.

Talking about conspiracy theories. How about the 4 inch Australian Reptile hiding as a media magnate.....

Motive: The only people that made money out of the September 11 disaster was the News Corporations.

Opportunity: One rupert Murdoch sitting with Australain Prime Minister John Howard in the USA on September 10 having lunch... The curtains are drawn on the restaurant... Murdoch, sitting in the restaurant is broadcast around the world, including to a piano playing Sheik that also looks like Murdoch, with a very strange hand signal (a knife hand in the air).

Arabs being conned by the piano playing version of Murdoch, signals sleeper cell that was sufficiently angered by the FBI with Magic Eye type JPEG encrypted instructions.

murder weapon: 747's used like a Kamikazi Zero in a News Corporation remake of the bombing of Pearl Habour.

bodies: the American Rich and powerful.

Murdoch studied war in Australia before going into the media industry. His way of doing things looks like a shit copy of how the British Military nailed the Nazi's using the media.... problem is – he is what is called in Australia "iCrazy, iScumbag, iFuckwit."

The Smashing of Idols

Firstly i'd like to congratulate the film producer on a thought provoking stimulating film, much of which i find compelling.

Secondly i'd like to address an issue I take with the concept of "Peak Oil"
Let me preface this with a quick recap on the laws of supply and demand as it pertains to the cost of any traded commodity.
If a commodity is abundant its value is low because everyone can get their hands on it relatively easily.
If a commodity is scarce or if there is a common perception of scarcity, which may not relate to the actual availability, the value goes up, and up and up.

I tip my hat to Chomsky’s observation about concision in the media and how it is almost impossible to make a convincing counter argument when lumbered with very little time or space to elaborate. It is conversely very easy to mouth conventional wisdom since nobody expects you to back up all of your assertions. Here goes…

Since nobody else has posted any information to the contrary I would like to go into the "Peak Oil" ideology/theory for the sake of counterbalancing the informed debate.

The conventional wisdom in the west is that oil is a fossil fuel and as such is a finite resource.
If we take this position then we can debate over the time frame for its consumption based on empirical information, or we can speculate.
It is controversial at best to say that the data is all in, in relation to the time frames being predicted.
If the figures are wrong we could be talking about hundreds of years of variation between predicted versus empirically tested projections.

I think it is worth noting that the oil cartels have a vested interest in its apparent scarcity as this allows prices to stay high. King Hubbard worked for the research department of Royal Dutch Shell's American branch Shell Oil. Is it outlandish to imagine that external political or financial concerns might interfere in his reports looking into oil peak? Or any of his colleagues for that matter? Now I’m speculating.

I should also point out something else that i don't see anybody else throwing into the ring. The price of oil is heavily influenced by Hedge fund speculation. Commodities can be speculatively bought and sold hundreds, even thousands of times before they get to the market proper. The inflated values at which time do not necessarily reflect actual availability but could be accounted for as largely speculative hot air.
Chancellor Gerhart Schroder said as much during the German election campaign of 2005 when he said that if the price of oil is $70 a barrel, then $20-$30 of that is pure hedge fund speculation as reported by Webster G Tarpley.

Control of production and distribution must also be cited as sources for potential inflation in oil prices.

I would not have looked any further into the biotic theory of oil production, had I not encountered Webster Griffin Tarpley, one of the contributors to Oil Smoke and Mirrors. For more info google him for his books and there are many videos posted featuring him on Google video. As the producer notes at the opening not all of the contributors agree with each other’s assertions. Webster for one does not agree with the “Peak Oil” theory.
Having listened to him somewhat bemused, I learned that there is an opposing theory for the mechanism of oil production. It is reportedly a consensus among the Russian/Ukrainian Scientific community related to these fields of study. It has not been reported in any significant manner in the western media to my knowledge.

As a result of decades of research and peer review since the early 1950s the controversial theory of Deep Abiotic Petroleum origins became an accepted and utilised theory. Russia has subsequently found super deep wells using this knowledge changing it’s once regarded low potential into one of the world’s top oil producing countries.

(cont) But don’t take the Russians’ word for it.

As reported in the Wall Street Journal April 16th 1999:
Jean Whelan, a geochemist and senior researcher from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Massachusetts ... says, "I believe there is a huge system of oil just migrating" deep underground.
Article concerns the resurgence of oil in a field beneath Eugene Island 330 in the Gulf of Mexico, though long past it’s peak. Google it.

In August 2002, the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences published a study authored by J.F. Kenney, V.A. Kutchenov, N.A. Bendeliani and V.A. Alekseev. The authors argued, quite compellingly, that oil is not created from organic compounds at the temperatures and pressures found close to the surface of the earth, but rather is created from inorganic compounds at the extreme temperatures and pressures present only near the core of the earth.

In June 2003, Geotimes.org paid a visit to the Gulf of Mexico ("Raining Hydrocarbons in the Gulf"), and the story grew yet more compelling.
-Below the Gulf of Mexico, hydrocarbons flow upward through an intricate network of conduits and reservoirs ... and this is all happening now, not millions and millions of years ago, says Larry Cathles, a chemical geologist at Cornell University.

The above samples were found here by author/researcher David McGowan http://www.davesweb.cnchost.com/nwsltr52.html

I learned more still from investigative journalist Greg Palast who some people may know from his book The Best Democracy Money Can Buy from which Michael Moore drew inspiration for his film Fahrenheit 911.
In his last book Armed Madhouse he elaborates on the workings of the Big Oil lobby group and their influence on foreign policy making reference to policy documents. Those interested can hear him talk about it in an interview on google video if you enter a search for his name and the book title.

This page has a long list of external links from both the pro and anti Peak Oil camps.

http://www.newmediaexplorer.org/sepp/2004/06/24/oil_shock_looming_what_are_the_alternatives.htm

One example from this site:
Peak oil theories wrong, says ExxonMobil boss
September 11, 2006
THE world has an abundant supply of oil, and high petrol prices are just the reality of a globally traded commodity, ExxonMobil Australia chairman Mark Nolan said today. Mr Nolan used his speech to the Asia Pacific oil and gas conference in Adelaide today to debunk the theory of peak oil, which suggests oil supplies have peaked and will dwindle over the next 20 years. Such predictions, he said, had been around since the 1920s, particularly at times of high oil prices.
comment: What Nolan does not say is that oil prices depend on production, which is very much under the control of his and other companies that are in the extraction business.

The death agony of the dollar is also a key factor in these events. Oil and Dollar have been joined at the waist as the Fiat currency until these last few years when upstarts and troublemakers like Saddam Hussein and Hugo Chavez to name but two interfered. What were they doing? Threatening to selling oil for euros or anything other than the dollar basically and producing too much of it. This act if it caught on would have enormous ramifications for the beleaguered monetary system as clues to its instability begin to show in the stock market among many other phenomenons indicating a steady economic decline.

All of this clearly needs to be looked into, thought about, argued about if we are to even pretend to have an informed debate on the subject. I hope my ramblings have raised a few interests in the furtherance of this debate.
Thanks for reading this far.

Hi! The documentary was forwarded to me and I found it very very interesting. I find it strange that people need to have proof to be open to a thought.Like my teacher of philosophy says - "Don't believe me but don't disbelive me either - just sit here for a moment and be open"! For me, it does not matter whether it has been researched or whether the said proof has be produced. The entire flow of events, the theory and the rationale behind the war on terror, seems too perfect to be a coincidence. I think we have something here that everyone needs to hear with an open mind. I must say that it takes a lot of guts to air ones thoughts so freely....Congratulations! I will definately help by sending this to all my friends!

I recently purchased a copy of Oil, Smoke and Mirrors through a cafe rujn by the Boston chapter of 911Truth.

Unlike most Americans I have been very aware of peak pil since the early 70's and this film still managed to keep me awake after I watched it. This is a film that every American should see, and if the corporate controlled networks had any cajones, it should be shown as a prime time news special

It is a frightening, alsoa sober look at what we are in for
